Brain, How is the new fish and the corals doing? Is she eating?

The corals are still settling in. I lost one but the rest seam to be making the transition.

The blueline is doing great! She's eating any frozen foods that I offer her. Still a little shy, but coming out more each day. I have her in cupramine now and will add PraziPro once I get back next week.

Thanks Austin, She is one of my favorite angels. As for stopping by.... any time.

So I hear the you might have got your AGE tank back and a nice nipper to go in it ;).

It is more then 'might' be back....last I heard it was about 1/2 filled with water!

I still think he should keep the shoebox and sell me the new nipper :lmao:

If my tank was cool enough I would want it....

oh wait I have another fish I need to pickup first ;).

So I have been holding off fixing this for better than a month. First I'd like to give you my true opinion on Sequence Blackfin pump. I'm sure not all will have the same opinion on it, but this is mine.

The tank and pump have been running for alittle over 2 months. Needless to say I have gone though 4 pump since it has been up. 3 of them were due to noise issues. When I say noise, I talking about hearing it on the next floor with all the doors shut. Anyone who has been to my house will agree (Scott).

So this bring me to the pump I have now. The seal blew about a month ago and I just got the time to replace it. The direction or lack there of... where not very good. So here is ho to replace one if anyone need to do it.

Here is the pump after I remove it. You can see all the salt creep.

Tools needed to replace 2 seals and the seal that were send to me.

There are 10 stainless steel screws that need to be removed from the suction side of the volute. Once they are removed you need to remove the face from the volute using a small flat head screw driver. It looks as if they are seal together but they are not.

Once the face is removed, you need to unscrew the impeller.

IMG_1668.jpg

I use a pair of pliers to hold the shaft.

Once the impeller is removed you can replace the seal on the back side. It's the smaller black and white rubber one. You can remove it with a flat head screw driver.

After that remove the 4 screws on the back side of the volute, so that the main seal can be removed.

I use a screw driver top tap it out.

IMG_1675.jpg

Once you have remove it the new seal can go in. You are not suppose to touch the face of the seal. So I used a 1 3/4" pipe to hold on the seal casing and taped it in. It also tell you to use a water based lube if needed.

After that the shaft needs to be clean and you can put the pump back together.

THe whole process took me about an hour.
