Question about ATB 840 1.5 custom volute

Hi, I just received my 840 today. The pump seems different from every photo I've seen as it does not have the custom volute. Does anyone know if ATB stopped producing the volutes?

Thanks,

I just heard from the vendor that ATB discontinued the Mini airstar. Here's a photo of the pump specs

I don't know what to think of this. Months of research on different skimmers... finally deciding on the ATB :sad2:... I really have no idea of how this pump is going to affect performance.

The psk 1000 is a non directional pump and will have a totally different pinwheel too. I have owned one of these. Not a bad pump. will perform fine for the atb. About same performance as the psk2500 with the small wheel. psk 2500 with small wheel is 700 lph. The psk 1000 is about 800 to 850 lph from my tests. I think it will perform just fine.

Ok, but I was recommended to use the large pinwheel for my system. It's a 120 gal 90% SPS, also using Zeovit. What do you think?

Also, at what water level will the skimmer work with this pump? I was planning on 6.5" because of the large pinwheel.
