co2 through salt to fresh

could you run co2 through a calcium reactor and into a freshwater tank with live plants, Would you loose to much co2? Is there a way to collect and "pipe" the co2 to a co2 diffuser in freshwater? Trying to save a buck.

I would just get a dual regulator.
