Thinking about buying a PH monitor

Hey I was thinking about buying a PH monitor. Are they worth it? They seem like a handy thing to have.

I found an American Marine PH monitor online for about $94.

Any thoughts on the brand or price? Anybody had any experience with Milwakee Brand or American Marine Brand monitors?

If you have a cacium reactor it's useful otherwise I'd spend the money elsewhere.

A monitor or controller??

I used Milwaukee all the way!! I had both monitors and controllers. Both worked great.

I have Miwaukee monitor and it has been working well. If I am right it has only one decimal place precision where as PinPoint has two I think. Not critical but if you are looking for the extra digit then you can pay a little extra. PP is also black.

Hey Mark,

Yeah got back a week ago from Florida. I actually stayed at an aquaculture facility during my vacation....it was called Keys Critters...I leave for Hawaii in 22 days...so not planning to stay here for too long...such is life.

Hey Matt

I know a lot of wholesalers in Hawaii but the problem is its hard to get a single fish or coral from them. Besides they will ship them rather than letting me carry with me. So the shipping will be high unless we get a lot. And most whole sale places collect a few species a week. So one week they will do just yellow tangs, red flame angels and feather dusters. Unless we want tons of these its hard to get what we want. Easier thing would be to collect yourself from the reef. I have collected but given my skin color and the current TSA rules it was simply not worth getting it back.
That being said, when I go back in Feb (Yes I go again in Feb.!) I am visiting an aquaculture facility in Kona where they have captive raised yellow tangs...basically collected the larvae and raised them in captivity. I might bring some of them back or get them shipped.

Ok, well I don’t want you to get in trouble with the authorities You will have to let us know what neat things you find there so we can make a list when you go back in Feb.
