Where would you put a protein skimmer in this setup?

Middle, Left is too small. Right is your return. The first plate after the middle is to adjust the water height in the skimmer section.

With that set up, I’d agree, likely the middle as that will also have the most stable water level as well

Yes middle chamber. The gate on the right is to adjust water level height. Most skimmers have a recommended water level height where they run better. That gate moves up and down to adjust water level height.

That looks like a sump kit. Whos is it? I have used a few different ones and some are great and others junk.

ordered it off ebay from jax.racks. Seems to be very good quality, all cut with a CNC cutter and parts tightly fit. I guess we will see if it works now..lol

I've heard good things about the jax.racks kits. I don't remember which seller/kit I bought for my current tank (it's been a long time ago) but it was simple to build out and works really well.
