good wrasse

i have found six lines to be randomly aggressive to other fishes. i call 'em the damsels of wrasses.

my fav wrasse for pest control and peacefulness is a melannarus. the are great for flatworm control: red ones and monti ones (if they can see them).

i like to get them small so they 'grow' into the tank. i have found them to be harder to find than other fancier wrasses.

I agree with the sixline bit. I've seen way too many be complete jerks to other wrasses.

I have a melanarus and be advised as they get bigger they can be a handful. I can't put smaller clams or small frags in my tank because he flips them over while doing his potential pest ridding rituals.

yes, mellies are very aggressive in the pest control dept where they flip and knock things over. i call them a pleasant ocd fish! :D

i have one in my bare bottom fowlr and put a small glad food container full of sand in there for him to dive into at night for sleeping!

radiant wrasses are a good choice. i have one and love it. i also have a potters leopard wrasse that seems to help with keeping things in control and he isnt aggressive at all and is a beautiful fish

Depends on your tank size, but agree Radiants are very nice, as well as flames. Price for raises varies tremendously. Make sure you have a tight cover, I have lost countless wrasses due to carpet surfing.

Most halichoeres wrasses are good choices. I like my Halichoeres biocellatus since it stays a bit smaller than some of the other species. My yellow halichoeres got too big, and had to be removed. A friend has a radiant that is simply BEASTLY!

Lots to choose from in this genus:
