3ft BB ULNS Tank

when watching a tv series, I've always preferred to record an entire season and then sit down and watch all the episodes..
So, I'm happy to say that it was with pleasure that i just sat down and read this whole thread!
so nice!!
I love the scape and the corals!!
just wondering, are you testing your n and p, or just going bu coral colour?
you said that you use lanthanum chloride, is that because you have a persistent p problem?
i guess I'm wondering, in general, what your methodology has been for tracking nutrients..
congrats on another awesome tank!

Thank you Matt.
Yes mate I've been recording N & P, I'm testing with salifert for N and Milwaukee low range photometer for P. I just can't seem to keep any in the system so for the time being I'm going to start dosing some AA's to see if I can get any results until my new fish arrive in a couple of weeks.
I was dosing Lanthanum Chloride but I haven't dosed it for a couple of months as I haven't had any need too, It was mainly being used to keep P low instead of using something like Rowa as dosing Lanthanum I find is a lot easier to control where you want your P at where you would like it to sit. I've never had a persistent P problem it was purely for controlling P that's all. Hopefully the AA's will help but I'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks again Matt

Thanks for the response, Scotty.
So basically, when you started, you had some p but over time it dropped along with n to undetectable levels?
I don't remember if you are using any carbon source in this tank.. I think not..
You haven't considered throwing in a little reef roids or some other type of coral feed?
By the way... It's just about time for a couple new shots.. No pressure...
Asap please!! :)

Anytime Matt I enjoy other peoples input it's what RC is all about :)
Yes that's exactly right I had P to begin with then it became undetectable over time and the same with N.
I've just started dosing some TLF Acropower as it was recommended by a friend that has a very nice tank as he uses it, just waiting to see if I get any results with it. Have you had success using reef roids?
And yes it is due for a photo update I'll take some pics on the weekend :)

I second the photo update:).
In other news, I got my very first Acro mate:dance: its a Acropora Sarmentosa from what I can tell(used a Acro ID website). Sooo excited and I think I'm hooked on colorful and expensive sticks:p I think the LPS dominant idea has gone straight out the window.... Move over LPS the SPS have this reefers attention now:lol:

I've used reef Roids quite a bit.. Always tough to tell if any one food is 'the one' thing that made the corals happy but I quite like the stuff. It's very rich and in a uln environment, it should definitely give you a little nutrients..

I know what you mean, there are far too many elements to the reef tank to be able to pin point 1 particular ingredient as the key to success.
Its not like my whole tank is completely struggling either it's just a handful of pieces that looked great before have lost a bit of pop. The only thing I can put it down to is the low nutrient as every test I've run has comes back exactly where I like it to be. There are still some pieces in the tank that I could not be any happier with but I really don't like looking at corals that are struggling.

Thank you for the link too I will look it over with great interest :)

Scotty

I found mine liked high light with medium flow mate.
That's good just keep an eye on it and you should be able to tell if it's happy where it is via colour and PE

From memory the light was 10cm and the coral depth was about 15-20cm mate.
I'm getting a couple of hybrid centropyge angels :)

For some reason it won't let me post any pics together tonight so I'll post them one by one. The pics aren't that great but you get the idea
