By the way, anything I can do to make my experience more pleasant? Specifically, do people usually bring a cooler, bags, etc. to maintain livestock and such? (Just thinking if I snag something at the start, and plan on staying the whole time, do the vendors usually hold your stuff or would they rather you take it and maintain it until you leave?

Bring a small cooler with you if possible, and yes the swap is definitely a go. This is an event that takes several months to prepare for, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
