I'm planning to DIY a canopy that will hang above my tank should I use acrylic or glass under the canopy? and does it need to be UV rated? I'm using 2 250W MH mogul base and 2 96w PC actinics

Off the top of my head, I would recomend Glass. Acrylic is flamable and more likely to have problems with the heat. However, I am not sure whether you need glass even with a Mogul. I suppose it is an added measure of safety.
