High PH

Well finally got rid of all my algae issues and now I have a PH issue. I happened to look at my PH monitor the other night and it was reading 9.89. I had been noticing some of the soft coral were over inflated the last day or two and I typicall just look at my my ORP and PH monitors when I go behind the tank every few days or so. I added some buffer and it dropped now down to 8.8. I wonder if high PH is causing some issues with my Acans and I have a Lineatus that is lookng like he's on his way out (but he is old) so it could be coincedental. What affect does high PH have on corals and fish? Is it a long term issue or can it cause issue quickly if the PH was high for only a few days? Its always something.

I'd re-calibrate and change the battery if you haven't already. All the Pinpoint brand monitors creep up as the batteries run down. I'd be really surprised if it's actually over 8.5.
