mangrove seed pods?

While walking along the beach in New Symera Florida I spotted some green seed pods washing up. I collected about 30 in no time and placed them into a cup with some sand and sea water. Judging from the pics in your article they look like red mangrove seedlings. Could they be?
If so, I plan to try to start them in my sump back home in N.Y. Most of them have the root starting out. Any recommendations for best results...George from Syracuse....Thanks!

they do indeed sound like red mangrove propagules/seeds... they are very common along Florida shores (and many places around the world) to be found at times darn near in metric ton quantities!
