Whats eating my SS star

Giovanni

AKA Flippa
It seems that something is eating my Sand sifting stars. They apear to be eroading from the tips of the legs in. Seems to be happing to them one at a time. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

They are most likely starving to death.

Sand sifting stars eat the infauna that lives in the sand. When the food supply runs out, they slowly use up internal reserves. You could say that they are more or less eating themselves alive.

So after they eat the algae all up, what is the next thing to feed them so this doesn't happen? Just curious b/c I have 3 in a 55 gal
