GlennF's 1500 liter mixed reef tank

Glenn,

Do you quarantine your fish before you add them? If so, what method do you use. I am really interested in how you introduced the Anthias.

Thanks,
The fish bough are itch free because they are already threathed by the LFS.

Most important: I try to buy healthy speciments.

Only the itch susceptible fish like tangs and butterfly are quarantined and threated for 2-4 weeks in copper.

The anthiases goes straight into the display.
Never had any problem with that

I am curious if anyone had dead corals and liverocks out of the water for a few months and placed back into the tank come back alive?

Can corals survice this ordeal?

A had a assumed dead goniopora "rock" reused from a heap in the garden and used it as a pedastal for my duncanopsammia.

After a few days it turned out a surprise.

WOW!! I just found this thread, and your tank is AMAZING! Great job! I love those huge colonies!

It's mind blowing to find that the goniopora came back after being outside for months... cool!

Some incredible pictures of the frag700reef.
The camera can't capture the real beauty of the moment.

This is why we love reefing. Such great diversity of live.
How many fish and coral species do you count?

Exciting!
With the frag700reef I finally have the confidence in fullLED to get the last 8x T5 tubes out.
Replaced 8x54 watt T5 for 4x54 watt LED strips
There were already 7x54watt LED strips in it, now the total is 11x54watt.

The total power consumption goes from 950 watts to 750 watts

I am not completely satisfied yet, but that will be because the corals still has to adjust to the new lighting. In the near future I will be playing with different color combinations to get the most out of this reef.

Where did you you get the led strips that fit the T5 fixture?

Thanks.
I started it with the intention to be temporary fragtank tot transfer my corals from my 300 gallon reef to my new to build U-reef/panoramareef.
Now it has become something else it seems. That's what you get when your spous don't pull the break on you.[emoji23]

Most if not all ledstrips manufactures use standard T5 lenghts. So just look for those.

Mine are all own custom designed to fulfill my owns needs, but also to research what works best for my corals. I Don't follow fixed or mainstream knowledge, but always want to figure out myself what works best for my tank and my extensive coral collection.

These are 11pcs, 250cm long each ~55 watt real consumption.

Hey Glen! Awesome fixture. I love your DIY approach and your independence from 'mainstream knowledge'. You do what you think is best for you and yours. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge!

I'm curious if your fixture saved you money over buying multiple fixtures to provide equivalent light levels. Would you be comfortable sharing and comparing those costs?
