OT - Lets all sit back and enjoy a good smoke

After 20 some odd years of smoking meat and veggies in a Webber bullet style smoker, I purchased an electric smoker last week from Lowes. The unit is a Masterbuilt Electric smoker, and all I can say is what took me so long. Set the temp, set the time, and grab some beers and friends. Add wood chips through the side in a specially designed drop tube, and just wait. I did 4 large skin on split breast chickens last week with dry rub and smoked with apple chips. The end result was crispy savory outside, with the juiciest white meat in. This weekend, I got some special racks to go inside to stand some baby back ribs up and smoke with some JD chips made from used barrels smothered in whiskey. Can't wait!

Any other die hard smokers out there?

I'm right there with you man...I learned on the old fashion side burn box style smoker. Got introduced when I started throwing large parties at the house and learned on a tow behind smoker which is pictured below. I've always dabbled with but am now getting seriously into.

I also enjoy cooking in the brick oven my buddy built...

I think Rwinfrey will be by in a minute after I post these pics...

Ive been thinking of building my own Ugly Drum Smoker this year but cant due to housing restrictions. But ive dont alot of oven smoking/steam cooking before.

There you go Mike! In Cali, my father threw huge parties for his recruits (he was a Marine Corp drill instructor) and we did all sorts of meat in every way. Full pig on a marine corp engineered rotating spit, full pig buried in the ground wrapped in leaves on a bed of coal, and smokers the size of tractor trailers. Shoot, it was on the bed of a tractor trailer lol. My pops is since retired Master Gunnery Sargent and did 28 years for the MC and now lives back with me. I love doing this as it brings us back to the old days

That's what I'm talking about, I love all those crazy way over the top smokers.

I think us fellow meatosaurs need to get together and talk shop!

Ive been thinking about getting one. I have a weber bullet that I love though. I think it would be upset if I got an electric one. :)

Just came in, rib racks and jack chips. Now my office smells of jack soaked barrel chips. Mouth is watering!

Come on... that's not right. Maybe I can go grab something and start it at my lunch break. Debi, your evil :furious: in a good way of course :spin1:

I don't have pics but I use the propane version of the one you have tweaked I love it had it two years now and smoke stuff once a week
